Forest department assures its capture by midnight Madikeri: The elusive tiger, claimed to be the man-eater in Kodagu, has been injured following a gunshot fired by the forest department during the capture mission. The tiger is said to be injured on its face, however, is still on the loose. Combing operation for the injured tiger is undertaken by the department. Sharpshooters D Bopanna, Sanath, K Ranjan and veterinary doctor Mujeeb were carrying out combing operation using tamed elephants when they spotted the tiger. Sources said that as the tiger was approaching the sharpshooter D Bopanna, a gunshot was fired injuring the tiger. The roars of the injured tiger were reportedly heard by the villagers. Meanwhile, the family of the victim eight-year-old Ramaswamy who was killed in the tiger attack on Monday morning rejected the compensation amount of Rs 2.5 lakh. The farmers association in support of the victim’s family demanded release of Rs 7.5 lakh compensation, which was later handed over by the department. The forest department on Monday evening assured to capture the tiger before the midnight.
